Rock Star Farms, founded in June of 09 by Paul and Sunshine Diaz, is a branch of Tree Sound Studios – the largest green full production recording studio in the Southeast. The farm is located about one hour north of Atlanta in Gainesville, GA on seven beautiful acres.
Rock Star Farms grows a wide variety of organic / biodynamic produce and is consistently striving to maintain a truly sustainable farm. We catch rain water from our metal roof, filling our 2500 gallon cistern – enough to supply water to all of our garden beds. We are also in process of installing solar panels and a small wind turbine to fulfill some of our energy needs.
Here at Rock Star Farms we grow food that we like to call…
“Better Than Organic”
Though we are not “certified” organic, we use only natural and organic growing practices (no chemical pesticides, fertilizers or amendments) and we guarantee that none of our seeds come from genetically modified sources. We also use biodynamic practices in our everyday farming maintenance as well as planting and production.
Currently the farm has approximately 5,000 square feet of growing space in addition to a small orchard and blueberry bushes.

Hi Jill! I’m adding you to our mailing list. We will be planting some early cool weather crops in the coming weeks and should have more CSA opportunities before summer starts. Thanks for your interest!!
Hello, my name is John Hafenecker and I currently live in Lancaster SC but the plant that I work for is currently underway to transferring all of this facility to Gainesville Ga in the next few months. I moved to SC from Maine about 3 years ago now and finding it hard to get good organic produce unless I travel to the Matthews farmers market in NC or travel to the local Earthfare in Rockhill. Back in Maine the organic movement is much larger and I was a member of MOFGA for many years. Maine organic farmers and gardeners association. I also lived just a couple of miles from Johnny’s Selected seeds and Fedco ,I’m sure you have heard of them.Anyway I happened to see the article in the Gainesville Times about your farm and what you are doing and hoping that when I transfer within the next few months I can have the opportunity to see your farm and maybe join your CSA. I am single so my needs are minimal but the food I eat means so much to me and is a big part of my life. Good to see that you are gardening the organic way and look forward to meeting you in the future.
Sincerely John Hafenecker

Hi John! You will be happy to know there is plenty of access to good food here in Georgia. I will gladly add you to our mailing list so you are aware of when our next CSA will become available. You’ll also be happy to know that we have a tailgate market here in Gainesville every weekend. Last year there was one on Friday night on the square and Saturday and Tuesdays just outside of downtown near the highway. Here’s a link to their site http://www.hallfarmersmarket.org/ – not everyone at this market it organic, but there are a handful of vendors and with people like you and me, those numbers are growing!
Hey Amy thanks for the link and adding me to your email list. Looking forward to meeting you and touring the farm when I make the move. It’s good to know that good food will be so close at hand. Thanks John
You are so welcome John! Make sure to join our facebook fan page for daily updates on the farm. There is a link in the top right corner on the blog home page where you can easily access it. 🙂
Hi,
My name is Dennis Kelly and I am VERY interested in joining your CSA. But…I think you’re going to give me bad news. Here’s the deal – I live in Lawrenceville and am having a problem finding an organic CSA that offers weekly pick-up points that don’t involve a two hour turn around from my house. My wife and I are committed to the concept and have belonged to CSAs for the past two summers but we’re struggling a little to find a farm that: A) can stay in business, or B) is completely honest about being organic. So, my questions to you – do you have any openings for your summer CSA and do you offer satellite pick-up points? Thanks so much for listening to me whine and I wish you nothing but success in your endeaver.
Dennis
Hi Dennis,
I am happy to add you to our waiting list for our CSA. We do have a pick up point in Norcross. We are not organically certified, but our practices are organic. No chemical use on our crops whatsoever! We hope to become organically certified in the future. You also might want to check with Georgia Organics, they have a wealth of information on farms all around Georgia and there may be one near where you live. Thanks, Dennis!
Amy you’re a gem! Thanks for adding me to your list. I’m keeping my fingers crossed…. FYI – I have tried to contact some farms through Ga. Organics but so far no one has gotten back to me. I came across you guys in the Sunday paper. Keep pushing me towards the top of your list and maybe we’ll meet this summer. Peace – DK
Your welcome Dennis!
I’d love to be added to your email list – I too am interested in your CSA. I’m very close to Gainesville, so I’m excited to have found your farm!

Hi Jennifer – You are now added to our mailing list. We are so happy to be getting support from our Gainesville Community!
Hey Amy, I’m exhausted from my move to Gainesville from SC and all the moving and cleaning and painting of my new apartment. I need a break and would like to take a ride and visit your farm. Would that be possible sometime this week while I have some time off? Give me a buzz. Thanks Haffy
Hi John!
Welcome to Gainesville. We would love to have you visit the farm, but we are not currently open to the public or hosting tours…yet. We do plan on having a special farm dinner later in the summer and I believe we will have a CSA starting in a few weeks. We definitely want to keep a few shares available for our local community here in G-Town. We’ll send out an email as soon as any/all of this is confirmed!
Amy
Hi Amy,
I’ve only lived in Gainesville for the past few years. I still commute to Midtown Atlanta 5 days a week for work, so I don’t really know Gainesville all that well. We located on Lanier because we love the water so much. That said, I would very much be interested in a CSA opportunity. Let me know, chau.
Hi, I’d like to be added to your email list too, and am another interested in your CSA.
Thanks!
Dear New perspective and Known CSA members,
After a cold dormant Winter at Rock Star Farms, we are feeling Spring fever! Everyday we are either planting or preparing beds to plant. 2011 brings many new additions to our micro-farm. We have connected our 3K Watt solar array to our house and when the outside kitchen is up and going it already has solar power. The kitchen is the next building project… It already has has it’s posts and beams so now it’s time for the metal roof. That means more rainwater catchment for the crops!
As far as the veggies we are growing for Spring; onions, herbs, salad greens, head lettuce, radishes, kale, broccoli, pac choi, carrots, beets, turnips, beans, cabbage and garlic, potatoes, summer squash, cucumbers, corn, not to mention the beds we are breaking ground for to grow strawberries and asparagus (those won’t be ready til next year). Our baby fruit trees and berries bushes are growing fast, too!
Unfortunately, eggs will not be included this season due to and unfortunate assault on the chickens from the hawks. We have taking measures to protect them from the flying predators and they seem much happier now able to roam about again. By Fall, if all goes according to plan, our 12 new baby chicks will be producing delicious eggs.
And last but not least, a new Rock Star Farmer is being grown! A baby girl is to be harvested from my belly in mid-July This being said, a Summer CSA is not in the plans. We are expanding this Spring’s CSA but not by many, the slots will still be few. There will be 1/2 shares geared toward singles and couples along with Full Shares geared to families of 2-4+. This season will be from the end of April to the end of June, 4/26 & 4/29 – 6/27 & 6/30.
1/2 Share = $180.00 – 10 weeks
Full Share = $300.00 – 10 weeks
Our CSA schedule will be the same as the past seasons. Pick ups will be on Tuesdays and Fridays. Tuesday pick up at the farm will be between 2pm-6pm, Fridays will be at Tree Sound Studios between 4pm-7pm. Please notify me to hold a slot for you, I will be opening up the registration to the public by April 4th.
Include preference of :
**1/2 Share ($90.00 due by 4/11 and remaining balance due at first pick up)
**Full Share ($150.00 due by 4/11 and remaining balance due at first pick up)
**Monday Farm pick-up
**Friday Studio pick-up
Mondays are our official volunteer day and sometimes weekends. I would love to have all of our members come up for a visit this Spring to see our progress and if you haven’t been up yet, just to get a looksie I’ll send some more pictures in the next email.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THIS LOCAL FARM, OUR GROWTH AND YOUR HEALTH!
Sincerely,
—
